With the celebration of Jesus’ birth just around the corner, there’s no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than by listening to some of Christian music’s best artists proclaim the coming of the Savior.
From revised classics to never-before-released originals, the following new, faith-filled Christmas albums are a “must-buy” this holiday season.
Just one look at this album’s title and you’ll know exactly what to expect from this folk worship band from Northern Ireland. Rend Collective’s latest Christmas release offers 12 tracks of varying styles of music and includes collaborations with other artists such as Ellie Holcomb and We Are Messengers.
A Jolly Irish Christmas is a perfect fix of classic carols and original music, including “Today is the Savior’s Day” and the band’s version of “Silent Night.” Other songs include, “We Three Kings,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” and “In the Bleak Midwinter.”
The four-time Grammy Award-winning duo King & Country released its first Christmas album, A Drummer Boy Christmas. Upon its release, the album shot to the top of iTunes holiday chart. The duo’s rendition of Little Drummer Boy was showcased during The Chosen Christmas special last weekend.
The 13-track album features collaborations with NEEDTOBREATHE singer Bear Rinehart in “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” and American Idol’s Gabby Barrett who can be heard singing “Go Tell It on the Mountain.”
The Christmas album also features two originals, “Heavenly Hosts” and “The Carol of Joseph (I Believe in You).”
Worship group Passion has also released its first-ever Christmas album titled Hope Has a Name. The band said it felt led to craft a Christmas album as a way to express their love and devotion to God during the holidays.
The album’s songs are led by worship leaders Kristian Stanfill, Brett Younker, and Melodie Malone. Crowder and Chidima are also featured on the album. The band was asked to perform its rendition of “O Come All Ye Faithful (His Name Shall Be)” at the 98th annual National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Passion’s Christmas Album contains five original songs and two classics.
American Idol alum and country music star Carrie Underwood also released her first full-length Christ-centric Christmas album “My Gift,” and said the collection of faith-filled songs was a “much-needed” creative escape for her this holiday season.
Underwood partnered with award-winning artist John Legend for the single “Hallelujah.” The album also features classics such as “Silent Night,” “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Mary, Did You Know?” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
And if that wasn’t enough, Underwood’s five-year-old son, Isaiah Fisher, makes his singing debut on “Little Drummer Boy.”
